ACCESS STATEMENT

Channel Vista is a guest house with seven en suite rooms. Bed and breakfast is offered. Flexibility is the objective and this is reflected in the diversity of the accommodation offered.

Pre-arrival: Channel Vista may be contacted by telephone or e-mail. Directions will be given to Channel Vista and its rear, on-site parking. The bus from Barnstaple via Ilfracombe stops opposite Channel Vista and runs regularly throughout the summer. The nearest railway station is at Barnstaple. Timetables and maps are available.

Arrival & Parking: The rear parking is accessed by turning at the ‘Bay View’ sign and turning right along a narrow road to the back of Channel Vista. The clearly marked parking area contains six spaces for customers’ cars. The front door of Channel Vista is accessed from the main road. Front and rear doors are illuminated at night. Assistance with luggage will be offered.

Entrances & Reception: The rear door of Channel Vista is at first floor level. A shallow step leads down to the rear door. There is a handrail. The door width is 32 inches (81 cm). Inside the rear door there are a further three steps with a handrail. A stair lift connects the ground floor with the first floor. There are three flights of steps at the front entrance. Reception is immediately inside the front door. The front door has a bell and there is a bell at reception.

Public Areas: From the rear door, Room One is situated to the left. Descending three steps to a landing, and ascending four further steps accesses Room Two and Room Three. A right turn and a flight of stairs leads to Room Four. Four steps lead to Room Five, Room Six and Room Seven. The width of the front door is 30 inches (75cm). The front door is usually left wide open. There is a seat in the porch. On entering the front door, reception is to the left, the dining room and conservatory bar to the right. Benches are situated outside for the use of guests. All rooms are en suite. There is no separate public WC. Fire extinguishers and evacuation notices are placed throughout the building.

Dining Room & Bar: The dining room is on the ground floor and the conservatory bar may be reached through it. The door width is 30 inches (75cm). Breakfast is served between 8am and 9:30am.

Bedrooms: All bedrooms have central heating. There are ceiling fans and the rear-facing rooms are double glazed. Beds have sheets, bedspreads and duvets. Additional blankets and pillows are available. Bedrooms have freeview TVs with remote controls. There is free use of the internet. Bedroom door width is 30 inches (75cm).

Additional information: No smoking is allowed inside Channel Vista. The mobile phone reception depends on the provider. The loud fire alarm is constant.

Future plans: A refurbishments of all rooms, the provision of additional decking at the front and the return of some original exterior Victorian features.
